PATTERN EXPORT
Export a readable chart for Pattern Keeper and paper
A pattern isn’t finished at conversion. A good export should stay comfortable to read, whether it’s viewed in a tracking app or printed over several pages.
What a clear export should contain
- A chart with distinct symbols and visible gridlines.
- A key that links each symbol to its thread number.
- Numbered pages and an overview of the design.
- Dimensions and stitch count to prepare the fabric.
Test the symbols before starting a big project
Two similar symbols, weak contrast or a chart that’s too dense can slow down reading. Open your PDF at 100%, check an area with several colors, then try it in your tracking app if you use one.
We’re still testing stixiva’s PDF pattern with Pattern Keeper: check the import on your first pattern before starting a big project.
Keep it sharp when printing
A vector export keeps lines and symbols sharp at every zoom level. Before printing, check the scale, paper size and margins. For a large design, choose a page layout that avoids page breaks in the middle of a complex area.
FAQ
Can one PDF work both on screen and on paper?
Yes, if the chart, key and pages stay readable in both uses. Check them at the real reading size.
Why keep the project file?
It keeps the conversion settings and lets you come back to the chart later, even after exporting a PDF.
Export a clean, well-structured chart.
